What are you learning:All students will demonstrate full of understanding of the tempera batik project by posting on their online portfolios and writing an artist statement that explains what they learned. Afterwards, they will learn about the new project: printmaking and begin forming their own piece. This is what you said you would be learning: Techniques: - How to carve: carve away from oneself. - Carving like a plane is landing on the runway...no stabbing...scoop. - Do not carve the sharpie lines because you need the negative space. Printing: - Multiple prints needed because you need a non-salty print, - Have all your stuff ready to go: materials: watercolor papers, brayer, Speedball block printing ink, branisher (O’Ryan calls it a flattener), Vocab: texture, value, direction, contour lines, salty/non-salty, negative space Landscapes/flowers/animals/cartoons: draw this if you don’t know what to draw. Why should you care about this:You will tell me this. For the tempera batik, Meredith Rigsby wrote this: 1. Painting the three layers relates to life because as you grow and gain new experiences, you become more resilient. 2. Painting the entire image black symbolizes dark times in life, but it could also symbolize an non-negative experience that changes you. 3. Washing off the paint could show how the experiences you have change you since it leaves some of it behind, but overall adds to the painting to make it more beautiful. How will you demonstrate this:Tuesday, 3.5.19
