Why should you care about this learning: Landscapes...we as humans are obsessed with nature. We have been painting, documenting, photographing it for years. So you document yours. What do you love in nature? In Denver? I want to see it. How will demonstrate that you get this: Block Day, 10.25 -Check in for class. -2 min. meditation -(10 mins) Grab a computer and review the expectations for the Landscape Unit. This is also found under projects. - (15 mins) Watch this video of Emma Colbert creating her massive pastel landscape...get some ideas. -(40 mins) Studio Time. Why should you care: You need to understand how your behavior when a sub is in the room has a domino impact on O'Ryan, your families, your school, and your community. Lastly, you need to know whether or not Bob Ross has mad game against Casper David Freiderich...do you have mad game when it comes to landscapes? How will demonstrate that you get this: Monday, 10.15 -class discussion and activity regarding when O'Ryan has a substitute teacher. Why should you care: Writing a proper artist statement not only makes you sound intelligent to complete strangers, but also helps connects to others. When people look at your art, they sometimes need a bigger push to understand what they are seeing…your artist statement gives them this extra understanding and allows your art to connect to them. Also landscape art is just plain cool...like "Kendrick Lamar" cool. Like high-key cool. I know...you are so dead now. How will demonstrate that you get this: Monday, 10.8 -(5 mins) Check the IB website under Student Portfolios. If your name isn’t there…please add your online portfolio URL here. -We are setting up for the art show today. -Panels are in the side room -Prepare your self portrait by trimming the sides and placing onto a white background. Put velcro on back of image. -Print out tags with your info, using this format here. Make a copy and type in your Name, grade, and Medium used. Glue onto black paper, put velcro on back. -Grab a partner and help haul up art panels. Tuesday, 10.9 No class. Block Day 10.11 - (10 mins) warm up for class. Required…(5 pts) -(40 mins) Research the following artists and look at their landscapes: 1. Casper David Freiderich 2. Bob Ross Compare the differences in technique and style between both and write on this Padlet why one artist is better than the other. Be sure to include within your argument:
Once you have argued your point, begin researching colored pencil techniques vs pastel techniques. Decide which one you want to try first. Here are some great videos to watch for both. Colored pencil. And Pastel. (30 mins) Then: pick one Bob Ross landscape and draw it out using colored pencil or chalk pastel. (supplies are on the supply table). Friday -(10 mins) Read the visual for “Writing a proper artist statement.“ and look at the rubric. Then... -30 mins: rewrite your artist statement for your self portrait. (yes, this is graded.) -(15 mins) Continue working on your Bob Ross landscape using either pastel or colored pencil. Your choice. |
